Wolverhampton Independent Retail Excellence (WIRE) Awards 2018
Terms & Conditions
- The Organisers of WIRE Awards are City of Wolverhampton Council and Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID) trading as Enjoy Wolverhampton.
- The 2018 WIRE Awards are free to enter and are open exclusively for independent businesses whose billing authority for business rates is City of Wolverhampton Council.
- Businesses operating outside the City of Wolverhampton Council or any other business who is deemed by the Organisers to be professionally connected with the administration of the competition are not eligible to enter.
- People completing the application must be aged 18 or over
- Applicants must have the authority to enter or nominate their business or staff member into the WIRE Awards.
- For the purposes of the WIRE Awards an independent business is defined as:
- someone who is responsible for his or her own business;
- a public facing business, where the public can walk in and buy goods or services face to face;
- a business that is not linked in any way to a national chain or worldwide brand;
- an independent retailer can be, for example, a shop; food outlet e.g. cafe, bar, restaurant; pub, hotel; salon; gym, leisure/entertainment venue or other independent enterprise.
- The closing date for award entries is Midnight on Monday 7 May 2018.
- Entry into more than one category is allowed.
- One individual application per award category is required. Duplicate and incomplete entries will not be judged.
- All entries must be submitted in English through the online entry form at www.wireawards.co.uk, completed in full and include supporting evidence where it has been listed as attached.
- All entries will be acknowledged on receipt.
- Please ensure the business name / individual staff member’s name is stated on your entry form as you would like to see it appear on an engraved award should you become a winner.
- WIRE Award entries will be judged by a panel selected by the Organisers.
- All WIRE Award finalists will automatically be entered into ‘The Signal 107 People’s Favourite Business’ award category, voted for by the public. The public vote will be announced on the wireawards.co.uk website during June 2018.
- Entries from businesses or individuals who are deemed by the Organisers to not be complying with the financial or legal obligations required by City of Wolverhampton Council or Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID), will not be judged.
- The Organisers reserve the right to audit any information supplied.
- The Organisers reserve the right to withdraw an award from any applicant supplying false information within their entry.
- You have the right to withdraw an entry to the awards at any time by contacting The Organisers at http://wireawards.co.uk/contact/
- The judges may decline to make any award in any category if in their opinion there are insufficient entries of a winning standard.
- The judges will select finalists from each category in May 2018 against the criteria set out on the website and entry form. Finalists will be notified by email and will be announced on the www.wireawards.co.uk website during June 2018.
- Finalists in each category must make themselves or a representative of the business available for a short visit by the judges during May/June 2018.
- Finalists may be visited by a mystery/secret shopper during May/June 2018 as part of the judging process without prior notification.
- There will be one award winner selected from the finalists in each category. Winners will be announced at the awards event on Tuesday 17 July 2018.
- Tickets for the awards event are available to purchase at www.wireawards.co.uk. The closing date for ticket sales is Midnight on Sunday 1 July.
- Finalists will receive a certificate. Award winners will receive a certificate and a trophy.
- Details of the winners will be published online at www.wireawards.co.uk.
- By entering this competition you agree to:
- allowing the Organisers to use the information and material you supply to promote WIRE and to showcase the City of Wolverhampton;
- be involved in pre and post competition publicity.
- Winners will be required to take part in post-event publicity and consent to their name and photograph being used for such purposes.
- Winners and finalists may publicise their award provided that the year in which it was won is stated. The Organisers licence any winner to use the WIRE logo to do this.
- The judges’ decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
- By entering the WIRE Awards, entrants have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and have agreed to be bound by them. The Terms and Conditions include any instructions set out with the Entry Form. Entrants who do not meet the Terms and Conditions will not be judged.
- Winners and runners up in the public vote are also bound by these Terms and Conditions.
- The closing date for public votes for ‘Signal 107 People’s Favourite Business’ award is 10 July 2018.
